Glen Carbon added roughly 3,400 people between 2000 and 2020, reaching 13,842. Most of them live in subdivisions laid out on rolling ground, with Judys Branch and its ravines cutting through. Slabs on sloping lots
A lot of back yards here fall away from the house toward a draw or the creek. A patio on that kind of slope was usually poured over fill on its low side, and the fill is often what moved.

Getting in through a subdivision gate
Subdivision lots are close together, and most back yards are behind a fence with one gate. The skid steer goes through a standard gate. The broken concrete rides out to the dump truck parked at the curb. If a dog run, playset or hot tub sits on the slab, have it cleared ahead of time.

Breaking out a flat slab is usually a simple job on paper, but what replaces it may not be. Ask the Village of Glen Carbon about the new pour, a roof over a patio or a wider driveway before the concrete crew is booked. If you have a homeowners association, its approval is yours to get.

Can you take out a patio without tearing up the whole yard?
Yes. The skid steer fits through a standard gate and the broken concrete is carried out to the truck. Ruts are raked smooth before 3D leaves. Mark sprinkler heads and buried dog fences ahead of time.
Do you pour the new patio?
No. 3D removes the old concrete and leaves a level rock base at the height your concrete contractor wants. The concrete crew does the pour. If you have not hired one yet, the base can wait until they tell you the height they want.
Why did my patio sink on one side?
On sloping Glen Carbon lots, patios were often poured over fill on the low side, and that fill settles. Replacing the soft material with rock under the new slab is the fix.
Do I need village approval?

How fast can the concrete crew follow you?
